Just a couple of days ago, i took a cab home.
I was waiting for cabs when someone honked at me from the opposite side of the road. I signaled for it to U-turn. The cab driver gave a thumb up sign and drove off to U-turn.
suddenly, all the cabs seemed to have awaken from their tombs. 4-5 cabs came my way and i hid behind the tree because i already signaled the cab to u-turn.
And it won't be nice to run off with another cab.
The u-turned cab stopped in front of me and i went in.
Uncle: Eh! Xiao mei! Thank you leh! You are so nice!
LiLi: *Smiled* It's alright. I already asked u to U-turn. Erm.. Choa chu kang ave 4 pls.
Uncle: Hard to see another pretty xiao mei mei still can hide behind the tree. (He spoke in chinese so it is hard for me to translate.)
LiLi: *gave a weak smile* orh. haha. (i didn't know what to say)
Uncle: Xiao mei ah... you know ar, from far, i thought u were an actress
LiLi: Huh? really? *thinking that he might think i look like minnie mouse*
Uncle: Ya.. erm... sun something.
LiLi: Erm? Stephanie sun? (-.-")
Uncle: no no. another one. she acted and sing.
LiLi: haha. I don't know. I hardly watch chinese shows
Uncle: Oh! He yao sun!
LiLi: *this must be a dream* really ah.
Uncle: yeah.. when u spoke to me, you even sound like her!
LiLi: *I feel like committing suicide now.* orh. haha
Uncle: You didn't go clubbing tonight?
LiLi: haha, erm, i don't go such places.
Uncle: orh... good girl lah. like me. Good boy.
LiLi: hehe.
Uncle: Eh, your area very quiet and dark hor. Very dangerous leh. Lightings are so weak also. Such a long way in to your blk. U want uncle to accompany u?
LiLi *Shocked* huh?! Erm, no need no need! haha! I'm used to going up at this kinda time already. (And it was only 9pm. Although yes, it's quiet. Yes, it's dark. but no one kill someone at 9pm. Jack the Ripper is an exception)
Uncle: really ah? No lah. really dangerous leh. U really don't want?
LiLi: really. thanks, uncle.
Uncle: Oh, den i park my cab here and watch u go to your lift to see tt u are safe.
LiLi: That's so nice of you, uncle. but really, i'd be fine.
Uncle: orh ok.
I came out of the cab and walked towards my lift. I looked back. The cab is still there.
The uncle is really very nice. But maybe.. a little TOO nice..
But then again, if every drivers are like that, i think Singapore's cabs would have the most courteous service ever in the whole world.
There's this conversation when my family were having lunch one week ago.
Father: There's a robbery at our area. Downstairs only.
Mother: wah! dangerous leh. this is the second time. Li ah.. everytime come home so late. U better don't take bus 172.
LiLi: Dun worry! This is singapore. plus, what's there to rob from me?
Father: U dun assume nothing would happen. If you want to take 172, alight at the previous stop.
LiLi: huh? Long walk leh! Dun want!
Mother: Xiaohsin leh? didn't see him sending you back anymore.
LiLi: erm.. *shucks* have have! He'd send me till my void-deck
Mother: You better becareful. This is no laughing matter. You are a girl leh.
LiLi: erm.. orh. -.- i still think it's safe. I've no money unless they want to kill me for $2. I've no looks and figure either. so.. no motives.
Father and mother: Dun gei kiang! (i don't know how to translate this)
LiLi: ok ok! point taken!
I'm still taking 172 anyway. cos that's the only bus from teck whye area to my area. so.. not that i have a choice unless they want me to walk home.
I mean, the 172 bus stop is near my blk. You just have to cross two roads and walk straight and there's my blk!
although after crossing the roads, there's no lights, but hell, no one would rob between 9-11 pm.
When i was walking home last nite, i was thinking.
How can this place be dangerous? I mean.. it's quiet and there's practically no one!
erm.. if you think of it at my angle and point of view, there's no killer or robber, see.
This is Singapore. The safe country. Why the hell would i need to alight at an earlier stop and walk a longer route?
OH! I remembered!
That time i was at Jurong MRT station. I was boarding the train and this caucasian actually wanted to get out. I assume he forgot to alight cos he was pushing his way out. He was holding on to a suitcase and he punched my boobs! what the hell?!
As in, it's not like in the kung fu movies, punching. But just using his fist to push his way out.
Either he's too tall so he can't see it or he's insane and a molester!
Everyone in the train was looking at him. I was so shock that before i could utter even a cry, he already ran off.
And to think i've always thought caucasians are very polite.
i take all of that back.
I told dad and dad was just as furious as me.
dad: Next time, shout. Understand? Don't be scared. just shout.
LiLi: Erm.. okay.. but after i recovered from my shock, there's no one for me to shout to.
Why does all these things happen to me? My God.
In my previous life, i must have been an executor.
Now, all of them are taking revenge on me!
